Welcome and congratulations on becoming a student at Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design (DHSVAD). It continues to be a time of transition, with a dynamic, challenging and exciting focus, with a unique curriculum offering opportunities for all students pursuing an education. Students are encouraged to participate in all aspects of school life. The school offers student leadership roles, sport, debating, band, extended visual arts curriculum and other courses of interest when doing NEO. The school takes pride in being different in its curriculum, in its delivery and diversity. Students in Years 8, 9 and 10 have the opportunity to choose a subject for the NEO elective. Students in Years 9 and 10 choose two other electives which will be added to the School Certificate. Year 7 have an enriched Art program. All other students have a wide range of opportunities to pursue visual arts and design as electives and build their art portfolio. Choices are available for those students who wish to pursue a standard curriculum. To assist with the homework, assignments and any other research there is a homework centre, which operates in the library after school where students have access to books and technology. There is a breakfast club so that students can eat sensibly before school. It is an expectation that students will improve their grades, outcomes and knowledge; wear the school uniform with pride, be punctual to school and to class; respect themselves, the school and others and respect learning. At DHSVAD there is a zero tolerance for violence, drugs, bullying, harassment and racism. There is a multitude of support to assist your enrolment and participation at school. People that can assist are: student advisor, assistant student advisor, head teacher welfare, counsellor, student representative council and other staff members. Ms
